Words from the Prophet...

Although saddened by the news of the passing of this sweet man, I was also thankful for the words and lessons that came out of his mouth while he was here. I am thankful to know he is reunited with his sweet wife Marjorie. Here are my favorite words from him that I try to live by:
1. Be grateful.
2. Be smart.
3. Be clean.
4. Be true.
5. Be humble.
6. Be prayerful.

Giggles in primary

Really? I am sure that was the thought that went through Luke's head as his Dad went to the front of the primary room and placed him in front of the microphone. He was asked to give the scripture during sharing time. Being a Sunbeam, he had no idea why he was up in the front. While Jamie opened his scriptures Luke grabbed the microphone, pulled it down to his mouth and said "yabba dabba, yabba do yabba". There were a lot of giggles. I was in the back trying my best to not laugh too loud. My stomach actually hurt from holding in the loud laughter. Jamie then sweetly whispered the scripture into Luke's ear and he repeated it. I love seeing Jamie with the kids, he just has this gentle way with them that they are eager to do what he says. Anyway, the kids still giggled but that did not matter, Luke did not mind. He ran to the back and gave me a big monster hug and said "I did it Mommy!" On the way home Aubree was offended that some kids were laughing at Luke, I explained to her they thought he was cute. I asked her if she laughed and she admitted she did. It was cute and I was so happy that he got up there and did it!

Let them be little

This song makes me a little misty eyed every time I hear it. My dear friend Christine owns a preschool and she played this song at Aubree's graduation and I cried. I think that was her goal since she knows I hate to cry in public. I have a really ugly cry face. Anyway, to my point. This morning I was changing Luke's diaper. Luke is 3 and refuses to use the potty. He loves his diapers. I have tried treats, gifts, stickers, clapping for him, kisses, hugs, phone calls from Santa, telling him all his friends do it, and even Elmo potty time DVD. NONE have worked. He watches the DVD and is so happy for Elmo and his friends but it just does not motivate him. I don't know why I want him potty trained so bad. I had to ponder it a little. Does it reflect me? To be honest, that can be the answer. I am prideful...I think?!?!? I don't want others to think I am lazy and just not trying. I am, he is just not ready. I love my little Lukie! I will keep trying and I am sure he will be trained one day. If not, he might have a hard time finding a wife! Okay, back to "Let them be little". I listened to that song today and it made me think. I need to not worry about things that will happen in time. I need to and want to enjoy the now. I love that my kids are still little, I love the pure love in their hearts, I love to watch to world through their eyes. Life is good and Luke will not be in diapers forever. I hope! Ha! Ha! Here are some random pictures we took the other night just before settling in the basement to watch a movie as a family. Ryan ended up going to bed about 10 min. into the movie and Luke played with his trains and then fell asleep on Daddy's lap. Aubree watched the whole thing and then begged to sleep in our bed. My neck still hurts from being kicked off my pillow! No kids in the bed tonight! Who am I kidding? It will start off that way I promise! :-)

Party of giggles and belly laughs...

Last night we had a surprise birthday party for our friend Rhonda. It was a girls only party and it was awesome. There were a lot of giggles and even some belly laughs. I made my Mom's taco's and this morning Rhonda and I worked them off. Rhonda burned 450 calories! GO RHONDA!!!
The pictures are of Rhonda and I, Rhonda and Tamera and I had to throw in a funny picture of Christine!

Reasons to love him...

There are so many reasons why I love my husband. My top 3 are his love for the gospel, his love for me and his love for his children. He really is a great Dad. He just has a way of making the kids eyes light up when they see him. Last night instead of our typical hide and seek game the kids wanted to fly. You know when you lift them by your feet. They had a blast and then they all wrestled a bit. I watched, laughed, made sure no one was getting hurt and of course took pictures!

Snow

Yesterday morning started with me waking up feeling unusually refreshed. I then looked at the clock and realized I must have turned off the alarm clock. Aubree and Luke were refreshed as well. I got them to school about an hour late. On the way to school it started to snow. I was hoping when we got to school they would tell us to go home but they informed me it was not going to last. DARN! It would have been fun if it lasted to play in the snow. By the time I got home, did my exercise with my friend and showered the snow was just about gone! I am not a winter gal but I do like the first snow fall!

Little Diva

The camera is out is full force now and Aubree wants to make sure she gets her fair share of photo's taken. She makes me giggle with the way she poses for the camera. You would think I was behind the camera saying "work it, work it" In reality I just say something like "say cheese" and then I get a pose. Speaking of say cheese Ryan said "cheese" the other day when I took his picture. It was really cute. He has never said that before. He usually just tries to grab the camera from me like I am an annoying paparazzi following him. Last night Jamie and I went on a date. I watched him play basketball and then we went out for dinner. We were going to go to a movie but opted for a rental instead. It was a good date though. We got to talk and laugh at dinner. I think I needed that. I feel very refreshed. It was nice to come home and have time with the kids before they were off to bed. Our babysitters spent the night and fell asleep shortly after we got home. Thanks K and M for taking care of our babies!
