In less than 24 hours!

The puppies went in the newspaper tuesday and in less than 24 hours all 5 puppies have great new homes! I have to pat myself on the back for this one (even if it was just luck or a blessing). This is a email I got from one of the buyers:


Hi Darla, Haven't decided on a name for sure but calling her Buffy for now. She had a pretty good night. She liked to sleep in the bathroom yesterday so I put her bed, water, and weewee pad in there for the night. She didn't cry and slept till 3:40 am. I went and got her and put her in a box by our bed. She was good in there for about a couple hours and then was crying again so put her in our bed and she slept till alarm went off. I think tonight I will do the crate. I took her to the vet this morning and they were very impressed at how healthy she seemed and free of fleas and worms. Everyone oohed and aahed over her, she is so adorable! I haven't had a puppy for a long time, I forgot how playful they are. She acts like a kitten, pouncing and jumping around and playing with toys. All my grandkids are coming over today after school to see her again. She's one dog who won't be lacking for love, haha. She's such a sweetheart and so good. I had to wait almost 40 min. at the vet clinic and she was content to just lay on my lap. Take care, Cindy

I don't have any pictures to post with this blog but I just wanted to write some thoughts after looking through some pictures my little sister Danielle posted. 9 years ago she placed her sweet baby girl for adoption. It seems like it was just yesterday. I cannot believe it has been it has been 9 years. I remember she was born a few days after my birthday. She looked JUST LIKE Dani. Lots of dark hair and tiny. She was perfect. I remember just wanting to hold her a lot. I also remember watching Dani hold her and take care of her. I remember when her adoptive parents got there. They were so caring and warm. Watching Danielle sign the papers to place baby G. with this loving couple was so hard.

Danielle looked through many profiles. One day her caseworker told her there was a new couple. She gave her their profile. I remember coming home from work and her showing it to me. Reading about them gave me chills as it did her. It was the first time in a long time I saw her excited. I went with her to meet them and they were so kind. She just knew they were the ones.

The day we left the hospital was the saddest and happiest day. What a selfless gift Danielle gave to baby G and her parents. I remember going to my room and crying on the floor. I did not want to cry in front of her when she was not crying. How could something so hard be the right thing to do? In this case she still says even though it was hard she knows it was the right thing her her and baby G.

It was so neat to see her in the pictures. She is still a spitting image of Danielle. I am so thankful her parents shared those pictures with her and then her with us.

Having family who have placed and then being chosen to have a child placed with our family and then having the adoption not happen has really opened my eyes to adoption. Knowing how it feels when a child in your family is placed for adoption and then knowing how it feels to be chosen by a mother to place her child in my family and now knowing how it feels to have lost that child. It has been a rough road to travel but in the end I know that it will be a road that was well worth the travel.

Down Syndrome Buddy Walk

What a great day! This is for sure a new family tradition! The kids had a blast! Aubree felt proud she raised $106.00 in donations and Luke the whole way there said "I walk for Kendall" Today my heart felt whole, pure and warm.

Fall Festival at Aubs School

There is really not much to say with the pictures. Aubree's school had a fall festival, we went, it was crowded but the kids had fun and that is all that matters. One kinda funny thing-- Luke walked in the cake walk game forever and never won a cupcake. Ryan walked in on the game and won right away. Poor Luke... yeah Ryan!!!

Mornings with Ryan

Now that school is back in it is just me and my little Ryan in the mornings. Ryan is such an easy going little boy. I have to check on him a number of times in the morning to see if he is awake. He will not let you know he is awake he just looks at a book in his crib until someone comes to get him. Every morning he greets me with a huge smile and a "hi". It makes my heart warm every time. He is already two... time is flying. Aubree is doing so well in school. She is in an advanced reading group and is so eager to learn. I love to hear about her day. I try to get her to tell me about her day when she comes home but she usually wants to play with friends so I have to wait until night as I tuck her into bed. Luke is doing well too. He comes home happy and HUNGRY! On many days he will eat 2 peanut butter and honey sandwiches (his current favorite). He brought home his art work the other day. I framed it and put it on a table in the front entrance of the house. He is so proud of it. He takes anyone who comes to the front door to show them. This is probably bad parenting but, I tell all my kids they are my favorite. It goes a little something like this-- "Aubree, you are my favorite 6 year old" and then "Luke, you are my favorite 4 year old" and then "Ryan you are my favorite 2 year old" Aubree is catching on and says "Mom (in a silly voice) I am your ONLY 6 year old!" Luke says "Yep, I wub you Mommy you my best friend." Luke tells everyone they are his best friend even his toys! Ryan just smiles and probably has no idea what I am talking about.
